Help your child enjoy lunch and snack at camp.

At Fair Lawn Jewish Day Camp, we are happy to provide lunch and snack at no extra charge.

Food at camp is catered, made fresh every day, and delivered to camp every morning.

We put a lot of effort into having a menu that is made up of real food, with healthy, as well as kid-friendly options.

We realize that not all kids enjoy the same type of food, and that some kids are very picky eaters.

We offer lunch at camp at no extra charge because we feel it enhances the camp experience for both child and parent.

For lunch and snacks at camp you have the following four options:

  1. ALL CAMP: Enjoy the camp lunch/snacks at no extra charge.
  2. ALL FROM HOME: Send your own lunch/snack to camp for your child to enjoy.
  3. HYBRID 1: Send some of your own lunch/snack for your child and they can have some of the camp lunch and some of the food brought from home.
  4. HYBRID 2: You can check the menu and send food for your child only on days that you know they will not want to eat camp-provided lunch/snack.

What camp does:
Camp is a place where kids should grow, discover, and have fun. Camp provides a great lunch/snack option at no extra charge to enhance the day camp experience. Food choices are part of the process of growing up that children often need help with. Staff are trained to encourage and help kids with food options and to try new things.

What parents can do:
Parents and care takers can help children grow by encouraging kids to try new foods and get a little uncomfortable when it comes to food, so that they can expand their palate and learn to enjoy a greater variety of foods. Practice at home by doing taste activities during meals, encourage, support and understand that it is a process. The food tasting activity should be a culture at home, and eventually it becomes second nature. This can be very helpful to children as they grow and mature.

Lunch/snack options in summary:

  1. Enjoy the food we serve at camp at no extra charge.
  2. Check to make sure your child will eat what’s on the menu each day.
  3. Send food from home every day or only on days that your child will not eat.
  4. Encourage and speak with your child about trying new foods. Try it at home!

Please keep in mind that FLJDC is NUT FREE. No food that has any nuts or seeds is allowed in camp.

Children are not allowed to share any food brought from home, for reasons of food safety, allergies, and Kosher laws.
